Black cherry (prunus serotina) has been the staple hardwood for American cabinetry and furniture since Colonial times.  Its dense, tight grain and beautiful reddish tone make a signature look that has been a hallmark of American furniture for as long as American furniture has been built.

Our cherry lumber is sourced from Appalachian forests which produce the finest cherry lumber in the world.

Douglas Fir (pseudotsuga menziesii) is the second tallest conifer in the world after the coastal redwood.  The extraordinary height and straightness of the trees produces the beautiful Vertical Grain pattern, which is the hallmark of Douglas Fir.

Thomas Lowry uses only vertical grain lumber harvested from Douglas Fir trees in the Pacific Northwest.

Heart Pine (pinus palustris) was once the dominant species in North America's southeastern savannah. Decimated at the turn of the century by irresponsible harvesting practices, the species' strength, stability and density made it a favorite among builders during the Industrial Revolution.

Today, Thomas Lowry's Heart Pine is reclaimed from Industrial Revolution buildings, linking American antiquity and industrial ingenuity with contemporary values of conservation and responsible, green building.
